About us

Come and taste Israel’s flavors and feel it all in the Hummus bar!

It’s not just that you can eat Budapest’s most awesome laffa with zaatar and thina in the Hummus Bar, but if you don’t know these special ingredients, you can now taste how a little Middle East in Budapest’s heart look like. The magic starts right after you jump in. The Hummus Bar can be called a Tel Aviv restaurant with its flavors and scents. While you are waiting for the most typical Israeli foods, the time will just fly by as you drink a refreshing mint tea. The hummus in itself is a fantastically healthy food, with high Vitamin C, iron and fiber percentage, but the tehina what we get after grinding the sesame seeds, is another really top-notch meal, which leads to an extremely healthy life. The laffa is made in front of you in a traditional way, when it is fried on the furnace wall, and you can order different ingredients to it, hummus, onion, the special Arabic taste zaatar or the greatly spiced meat while it’s made. If you are looking for more heavy foods, from the best falafel till the shakshuka everything’s available, which you could’ve ever imagined. The whole restaurant chain is filled with this friendly Israeli euphoria.

The Hummus Bar’s restaurants are working in the so-called “kosher style” mode. There are 2 vegetarian restaurants in Kertész and Alkotmány streets and a meaty restaurant in the Október 6. Street, but you can order from each restaurant to your home.

The hummus

One of the most likeable traditional Arabic foods with chickpea, and it can be made easily. In Hungarian: Chickpea pasty. Generally people eat it greased on toast or on pita bread. Actually our imagination is the only barrier, which limits how we eat it. It is the perfect breakfast or lunch for a schoolboy as sandwich crème.

The history of the hummus:

Hummus as one of the oldest Arabic foods is still one of the Middle Eastern kitchen’s main dish. It can be an appetizer, a dipping or a sandwich filling. Because of its high Vitamin C, iron and fiber percentage it is recommended for anyone, and it is also the perfect pairing of hummus, falafel and kebab. It is a fantastic meal filled into pita or laffa bread with a little onion, salad, and paprika or in a heavenly healthy tehina sandwich.
